Beatrice Haxton

Miss Beatrice Haxton, 85, of Erie, died Wednesday, December 23, 1959, at Warren State Hospital.

Miss Haxton was born in Meadville, August 20, 1874, a daughter of Andrew and Thomasina Shear Haxton.  She was employed for 25 years by the General Electric Co. at its Erie plant.  In 1937, she became the first GE woman employee to be pensioned.  She was a member of Park Avenue Congregational Church while living in Meadville.

She is survived by two nieces, Miss Marian Agnes Haxton of Erie, and Miss Elizabeth Carew of Vero Beach, FL and three nephews, Robert H. Carew of Pittsburgh, John P. Carew of Erie and Richard J. Carew of Philadelphia.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
