Beatrice I. Stevens

Beatrice I. “Betty” Stevens, formerly of Center Street, Meadville and a resident of the Golden Living Center, Meadville, died there Tuesday, February 20, 2007

She was born in Youngstown, OH, May 10, 1916 a daughter of Walter and Edna Barnard Trace.  She married Verda A. Stevens May 8, 1943 and he preceded her in death December 21, 2003.

She worked for 9 years in the Crawford County Commissioners office, for 14 years as a secretary for Carbis Walker and Assoc., for 3 years for the Tennessee Gas Transmission Co. and for 14 years for Talon Inc.  She was a 1934 graduate of Meadville High School and was a member of Stone United Methodist Church, its church choir and a former Sunday school teacher.  She enjoyed music and had sung with the Troubadettes of Meadville.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Johnston of Meadville; a grandson, Jason Johnston of Erie; and a great-granddaughter, Kylie Rose Johnston.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Raymond D. “Butch” Johnston.

Calling hours will be Saturday from 2-5 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.  The funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. with the Rev. Aaron Kerr, Pastor of Stone United Methodist Church assisted by the Rev. William L. Brown, officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
