Ben Johnson

Ben Johnson, 91, of Meadville, died Saturday, October 27, 1984, at the home of his son, following an extended illness.

He was born at French Creek Township, November 30, 1892, a son of Alex and Etta Boylan Johnston.  He married the former Grace Smock who died in 1947.

He retired in 1958 from the former Erie Railroad after 42 years of service as a carpenter.

He was a member of First Christian Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Marjorie Ann) Sherrod of Newark, OH; one son, Richard D. Johnston of Meadville; one sister, Mrs. Dale (Hazel) Battles of Hornell, NY; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter and three brothers.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Cochranton Cemetery.
