Bernice A. Droz

Bernice A. Droz, 91, of Meadville, went home to be with the Lord, family and friends on Monday, March 3, 2014 at home surrounded by her family after a short illness.

Bernice was born September 21, 1922 in Pittsburgh, the youngest child of George and Margaret Winters Wilhelm.  She was raised in Butler by her Aunt, Joanna Campbell, and graduated from Butler High School in 1940.  She moved to Pittsburgh where she married Robert F. Droz on July 17, 1943 and he preceded her in death August 23, 1994.

Survivors include her daughter, Darleen Swan Brown and her husband Chuck Brown of Meadville; three grandsons, Richard Swan of Cochranton, Kurt Swan of Wilkes-Barre, and Bill Swan and his wife Lisa McCray of Saegertown; three great-grandchildren, Charleston Swan of Cochranton and Zachary and Riley Swan of Saegertown; three step-great-grandchildren, Cody, Kyle, and Tyler McCray of Saegertown; a niece, Dorothy Eckert, a nephew, Roy Eckert and his wife Lillian, and a niece, Dolores Montgomery, all of Pittsburgh.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her Aunt, Joanna Campbell; three sisters, Zelda Eckert, Verna McClelland, and Hilda Russ; two brothers, Nathan and Leon Wilhelm; a niece; and a nephew.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville where the funeral and committal service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Jamey Huselton of Cornerstone Church of God officiating.

Interment will be in Huber Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society, 11012 Kennedy Hill Rd. or Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine St., both of Meadville PA 16335.
