Bernice C. Collins

Bernice C. Collins, 88, formerly of Chestnut St., Meadville and a current resident of the Crawford County Care Center, died there Monday, November 29, 2010.

She was born in Phillipsburg October 27, 1922, a daughter of D.A. and Ida Walker Stine.

Bernice was a graduate of Linesville High School and was employed as a machine operator at National Teltronics for 37 years, retiring in 1984.  She previously worked at the American Viscose for 7 years.

A member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006 auxiliary, she enjoyed playing bingo and trips to the casino.

Survivors include two sons, John Collins and his wife Wanda of Hamilton, OH and Clifford W. Collins and his wife Pam of Anniston, AL; a daughter, Christine Fitzsimmons and her husband Allan of Meadville; 4 grandchildren, Shawn Fitzsimmons, Crystal Rack, Brian Gumiela, and Clifford Collins, Jr.; 7 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Lyman of Brookville, FL and Shirley Klega and her husband Jim of Las Vegas, NV; a special friend, Roger Johnson of Meadville; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Steve Ackerman; a sister, Betty Downs; and a brother, Kenny Stine.

There are no services.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
