January 14, 1954 — June 20, 2011

Bert N. May, 57, of Guys Mills, died Monday, June 20, 2011 at Meadville Medical Center following a sudden illness.

He was born January 14, 1954 in Jamestown, NY, a son of Earl and Dorris Saxton May.  He married Cindy Dahl August 25, 1979.

Bert was a 1971 graduate of Randolph Central High School, Randolph, NY.  He was owner and operator of May Construction Company.

Bert was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville, West Mead #2 Volunteer Fire Dept., and Golden K Kiwanis Club of Meadville.  He was a member of Reckhart Bluegrass Band as a bass player and enjoyed fishing, camping, and especially spending time with his grandson.

Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Cindy of 31 years, include two sons, Brian May and his fiancée Kristie Sindlinger of Guys Mills and Alan May of Guys Mills; his mother, Dorris May of Steamburg, NY; a grandson, Landen May; three sisters, Shirley Young and her husband Jack of Steamburg, NY, Sharon Johnson of Jamestown, NY, and Lori Panebianco and her husband Paul of Clay, NY; nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Dwight Haas of Meadville.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

The funeral service will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dave Brumagin, Meadville Medical Center Chaplain, officiating.

Interment will be in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
