Betty J. Mcguire

Betty J. McGuire, 87, formerly of Conneaut Lake and a current resident of Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, passed away there Saturday, May 26, 2012 following a period of declining health.

She was born July 7, 1924 in Meadville, a daughter of John and Clara Ramsey Harshaw.  She married Lyle E. McGuire December 14, 1946 and he preceded her in death November 27, 2001.

Betty was a 1942 graduate of Conneaut Lake High School.  She worked as a beautician for three years and subsequently was employed as a cashier at the A & P Store, Meadville and Golden Dawn, Conneaut Lake.

Betty was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Conneaut Lake and was a former Sunday School teacher.

Survivors include five sisters, Frances Kurt and her husband Paul of Lady Lake, FL, Grace Luptak of Gastonia, NC, Hazel Field of Lady Lake, FL, Sherry Harshaw of Hilton Head, SC, and Darlene Tuell and her husband Bert of Dublin, CA; two brothers, Charles A. Harshaw and his wife Eva Jean of Coldwater, MI and H. Larry Harshaw and his wife Bonnie of Lady Lake, FL; a sister-in-law, Faye Harshaw of Conneaut Lake; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, John M. Harshaw, Jr.

Calling hours will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, 12422 Conneaut Lake Rd., Conneaut Lake.

The funeral service will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Frailey, Pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Conneaut Lake, officiating.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
