Mrs. Betty J. Shindledecker, 66, of Meadville, wife of the Rev. Lynn A. Shindledecker, chaplain of United Methodist Home and Nursing Hospital, died at the hospital Saturday, December 18, 1982, after a short illness.
She was born at Erie, September 4, 1916, a daughter of Lynn and Lottie Shaffer Russell. She married Shindledecker December 30, 1936, and assisted her husband in pastorates at Titusville, Connellsville and New Castle.
A member of Stone United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, she graduated from McKean schools and attended Garrett Thological Seminary at Evanston, IL. She was coordinator of Stone Church's Coke Society and a member of officer of Sunset Aux. of United Methodist Home and Nursing Hospital.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Jane Springer of Edinboro; a son, Thomas of Findlay, OH; two sisters, Mrs. Lee (Sally) Baron of McKean and Mrs. Harriett Swanson of Erie; two brothers, Chester and John Russell of Waterford and two grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
