Betty Jane Stancliff

July 2, 1920 — December 10, 2007

Betty Jane Stancliff, 87, formerly of Erie and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community since July 1986 died there Monday, December 10, 2007 after a period of declining health.

She was born July 2, 1920 in Erie, PA a daughter of D. Aaron and Anna Pysher Wagner.  She married Dr. Richard H. Stancliff October 19, 1946 and he preceded her in death March 5, 2006.

She worked as a nurse and office manager for her husband’s medical practice and previously worked as a lab assistant at Lord Corp.

She was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Erie.  She was an avid reader and loved traveling and staying especially in Elderhostels.

She is survived by four nephews, David L. Wagner and his wife Barbara of Edinboro, Thomas R. Wagner and his wife Nancy of Annapolis, MD, William G. Wagner and his wife Linda of Williamstown, MA and John R. Wagner and his wife Renee of Richmond, VA; three grand nieces and two grand nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Aaron P. Wagner.

Calling hour will be Friday from 10-11 a.m. at McCracken Chapel of Wesbury United Methodist Community, 31 N. Park Avenue, Meadville.  The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ellen Rezek, Chaplain, officiating.

Burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery, Erie, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Aaron Kerr, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Erie, officiating.

The family suggests memorials by made to Wesbury United Methodist Community, 31 N. Park Avenue, Meadville, PA 16335.
