Betty Jean Minnis

Betty Jean Minnis, 81, of Meadville, died Wednesday, July 4, 2018 surrounded by her family at Wesbury United Methodist Community. She was born May 15, 1937 a daughter of Kenneth P. and Harriet Boyd Williams. She, and David G. Minnis, where married for 60 years. She was a 1955 graduate of Meadville High School and she was a graduate of Grove City College with a bachelors degree in education. She was a special education teacher for 28 years first for the Crawford Central School District and then for the Intermediate Unit. She was a member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, the Meadville Womens Club and the Meadville Thesaurus Club. She loved spending time with her family. Survivors, in addition to her husband Dave, include: a daughter, Lauren Stewart (Gary) of Madison, OH; two sons, Jeff Minnis (Shawne) of Tampa, FL and Chris Minnis (Diane) of Meadville; ten grandchildren, Michael (Sonya), Gregory (Katie) and Matthew Stewart, Ryan, Nicole, Kaylee, Hannah, Alex, Tyler and Laura Minnis and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jane Inman. The memorial service will be Saturday, July 7th at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 890 Liberty Street, with the Rev. Dr. Brian K. Jensen, officiating. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 766 Liberty Street or the NWPA-NTMA Education Foundation, P.O. Box 203 or the Wesbury Foundation, 31 N.
