Betty L. Akins

Betty L. Akins, 83, of Meadville died Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the Meadville Medical Center.  She was born November 29, 1934 in Coshocton, OH.  She married Lloyd E. Akins, Sr. July 5, 1951 and he preceded her in death June 23, 2011.

She worked at the former McBride Nursing Home and the former Meadville City Hospital.  She loved quilting, crocheting, reading and especially spending time with her grandchildren.  She also enjoyed spending time with her friends Angie and Louise at the Meadville Senior Center.

She is survived by three children, Lloyd “Butch” Akins, Jr. (Dr. John Zinnamosca) of Conneaut Lake, JoAnn Battaglia (John) of Meadville and Jerry Akins (Betty) of Conneautville; a sister, Letha Patterson of Coshocton, OH; seven grandchildren, Tammy, Michael, Jason, Justin, Brenda, Joseph and Bethany; twelve great grandchildren, Taylor, Cody, Makayle, Trevor-John, Delilah, Myiesha, Kaylee, Jeremiah, Maryella, Jaden, Easton and Kayia and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David L. Akins; four brothers and three sisters.

The memorial service will be Saturday, March 24th at 11:30 a.m. at Sunnyside Mennonite Church, 12981 Foust Road, Conneaut Lake with Pastor Russ Richardson, officiating.
