Betty Rose Etheridge, 88, formerly of Shryock Apartments, Meadvillle and a resident of the Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown since May 2002, died there Sunday, May 4, 2003.
She was born in Meadville, March 29, 1915, a daughter of John Peter and Agnes Jane McDowell Smallenberger. She married Norman M. Etheridge who preceded her in death in 1986.
She attended Meadville public schools and had first been employed at Talon, and then for many years as a buyer and sales representative for the Crawford Store, and later as a buyer for Weldon’s.
She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ.
Survivors include 1 daughter, Polly Murray and her husband Newton of Charleston, SC; 1 son, John B. Etheridge and his wife Connie of Meadville; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Martha McCracken and her husband Robert, of Saegertown. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Evelyn Stokes and Lillian Werley, and 1 brother, Andrew Smallenberger.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
The funeral and committal service will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Steve Aschmann, Pastor of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
