November 17, 1944 — January 5, 2025

Stoneboro

Betty J. Scott, 80, of Stoneboro, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025, at Quality Life Services- Mercer. Betty was born to the late Myron “Mike” Vrendenburg and Ethel “Daisy” Geiger on November 17, 1944, in Mercer. Betty graduated from Lakeview High School and Pittsburgh School of Cosmetology before joining the workforce as an RSA for Polk Center from 1979 to 2004.

Betty was a true mother, always taking care of her residents and her family seamlessly. When she was able, Betty would take trips to the casino which she loved. If she could not make it, she would play games on her computer or sit and watch the Hallmark channel. The only time something different would be on the TV was on Steelers Game Day, so that Betty could cheer on her Steelers.

Betty is survived by her children, Doug (Lorraine) Scott of Cooperstown, PA, and Stacey (Mark) Cornelius of Salisbury, MD. She leaves behind her grandchildren Samantha (Dustin) Scott of Pittsburgh, PA; Danielle (Conner) Brode of La Grange, NC; Luke (Bryanna) Cornelius of Salisbury, MD; Leora (Tom) Fitzpatrick of West Leechburg, PA; Hannah (Dan) Smith of Mercer, PA; and Michael Jacob of Pittsburgh, PA, to cherish her memory. Betty shared a special relationship with her great-grandson, Keagan Smith, and her cookie-eating friend and great-grandnephew, Crew “Cookie Monster” Ebbert. Betty was also paid many visits by her nieces; Linda “Tink” (Tom) Park, Laurie (Randy) Hardesty, Lynn (Shane) Reynolds, her nephew, Mike (Bobbi) Davis, and several great-nieces and great-nephews. In recent years, Betty also had two close friends who would drive her to appointments and stay with her when needed; Shirley Breese and Gary Holland. Betty had a great caretaker in Makayla Schell as well.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, and her step father, Arnold “Liz” Geiger. Betty also mourned the loss of her sister, Nancy Baseflug; her brother Kenneth Vrendenburg; and an infant brother.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 99 Franklin St. Stoneboro, PA 16153. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
