Beverly A. Dilley

Beverly A. Dilley, 84, formerly of Cochranton & Stoneboro, passed away on September 8, 2023 at UPMC Horizon – Shenango Valley. Beverly was born on September 14, 1938 to the late Carl Sr. and Pearl (Moorehead) Spence. She married her beloved husband: William Haven Dilley on September 7, 1956. He preceded her in death on December 3, 2012.

Beverly graduated from Cochranton High School, then Crawford County Career Center in 1970, she was in the first class to train at Meadville City Hospital, earning her LPN Degree. From 1970 – 2000 she worked at Meadville Medical Center. She was very active making the LPN Profession known and valued. She was a member of the Licensed Practical Nursing Assoc. of Pennsylvania (LPNAP), where she held various executive board positions at the State and Local levels. In 1975 she was named LPN of the year by the LPNAP and in 1988 was given the Meritorious Award by the LPNAP. She also served as the President and was an active member of the Business Professional Women (BPW) in Cochranton. In 1990 she earned her RN degree from Villa Maria College & Gannon University and continued her work at Meadville Medical Center. In 1998 she was honoree of the YWCA Tribute to Women in Healthcare & Human Services for leadership development of women in her community and profession.

She was previously a very active member in the Cochranton CMA church, teaching Sunday School, volunteering with VBS, and helping with many church fellowship functions. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels, the Blood Bank, and Cochranton Library.

Beverly and her late husband moved to Stoneboro in 2000 and she quickly made new friends and found a wonderful church: Lakeview Church of God. She began to get involved with her new church, volunteering for the Lakeview Area Public Library, Grove City Medical Center, and Helping Hands, and became a member of the Stoneboro Garden Club. She also volunteered as a reader for Lakeview Schools with Becky Williams and Tammy Rose and became known as “Grandma Dilley” to many students and became a big Lakeview Sailors fan.

Beverly was very proud of her accomplishments but never boastful. She loved her family dearly and was very active in their lives. She lived a full and blessed life, dedicated to God and her precious family. She will be remembered for her professionalism, integrity, love, and kindness.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Pam (Robert) Moon of Polk; William “Bill” (Renee) Dilley of North Royalton, OH; and Julie (Mark) Bowser of Jackson Center, grandchildren: Robert (Dana) Moon III; Veronica (Chad) King; Victoria (Valgene) Stalker; Suzanne (Shane) Renner; Stephanie Azzardi; Joshua (Cayla) Dilley; Marcus Haven Bowser; and Pierce Bowser, 16 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, brother: Don Spence, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Beverly was preceded in death by her sisters: Evelyn Kline and Mary Brooks, and brothers: Carl Spence Jr. and Dan Spence.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at St. Paul's, especially: Diana, Tom, Kim, LeeAnn, and Karen.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, where visitation will be from 3 pm – 7 pm on Tuesday, September 12. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, September 13, at 11 am at the Lakeview Church of God.

Private interment will take place in Cochranton Cemetery.
