Brent Frederick Woods

Brent Frederick Woods departed this life on February 21, 2018.  He was the son of Marianne Berger Woods and the late Carlton Woods.  He had lived in Fayetteville, Arkansas in the 1980s and had recently returned.  The Woods’ family lived in Meadville in the 1970s where Brent attended Neason Hill School and Meadville Junior High.

Brent was an accomplished cellist and an attorney in California.  He also loved to travel.  Brent’s life changed considerably after suffering a debilitating stroke in 2012.  He found solace in alcohol and his health deteriorated.  But…he continued to love music and was happiest when traveling.  It was ironic that prior to the stroke he showed little interest in watching sports on TV, but after the stroke he became an avid sports fan.

His friends and family sustained him throughout the more than five years of his struggle.  Brent is survived by his mom, a brother Blair (and wife Monique), a sister Brooke, his nieces Cassidy and Maggie and his nephews Vaughn and Steele.  He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Frederick and Ellen Berger and paternal grandparents, Richard and Mildred Woods.  A very young aunt, Cynthia Woods Mastain also predeceased Brent and his wonderful dog, Japhy, died several years ago.  His mom, Marianne, has written this tribute; the week prior to his death, Brent said, “Mom, I am just tired.”  Rest in peace, precious son.
