Brian Robert Shok, 26, of Conneaut Lake, was recovered from the water on Thursday, March 18, 2010. He was born in Pittsburgh, February 27, 1983 a son of Paul E. Shok and Roberta Croner Shok Kightlinger.
He was a 2001 graduate of Meadville Area Senior High School and a 2005 honors graduate of Washington and Jefferson College. In 2007 he entered the University of Pittsburgh Dental School where he was currently enrolled. He was an avid musician and thoroughly relished playing his guitar. He also enjoyed hockey, golf, hunting, video games and his cats.
Survivors include: his father, Paul E. Shok of Conneaut Lake; his mother, Roberta Kightlinger and her husband Steve of Meadville; his sister, Allison Leigh Shok of N. Hollywood, CA; his step-brother, Nicholas Kightlinger of Meadville; his maternal grandmother, Iola Croner of Ambridge, PA; his paternal grandfather, Edward J. Shok of Palm Desert, CA; his girlfriend, Rhiannon Mauk of Carrboro, NC; close family friends, Trevor Kriner and Valerie Bond Waid; two aunts, two uncles and several nieces and nephews.
Brian was known to all for his tender heart, caring ways, soft spoken demeanor and heart-warming smile.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert Croner and his paternal grandmother Evelyn Shok.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Mary of Grace Church, 1085 Water Street, Meadville, PA with Fr. Richard Toohey, Celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 1700 Peach Street, Suite 220, Erie, PA 16501; Meadville Bulldog Hockey, P.O. Box 318, Meadville, PA 16335 or the Crawford County Youth Hockey Association, 800 Thurston Road, Meadville, PA 16335.
