Burton L. West

Burton L. West, 77, of Meadville, died Monday, June 14, 1999 at Meadville Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

He was born January 25, 1922 in Tionesta, a son of the late Samuel and Ethel Hollabaugh West.  He married S. Patricia Grubaugh March 19, 1947.  She survives.

He attended Randolph Public Schools.  He retired as a maintenance welder from Talon in 1987 following 25 years of service.  He also worked for Woodring Detective Agency as a security officer.  He was a US Army Veteran of WWII, having served in Europe with Company K, 13th Infantry.  He was a member of Crawford Masonic Lodge #234, Erie Consistory, VFW Post #2006, and Saegertown American Legion Post #205.  He was also a member of Company 254, Crawford-Erie County State Police Aux.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Valerie Wentz of Meadville and a half brother, George Hollabaugh of Kane.

He was preceded in death by three half brothers, Glenn Hollabaugh, Jr., Albert Hollabaugh and Carl Hollabaugh.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
