C. Elaine Monnie, 67, of Conneaut Lake, died Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at her residence surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born January 20, 1943 in Meadville, a daughter of the late George and Charlotte Barr Scott. She married Gary F. Monnie June 18, 1966.
Elaine was a 1960 graduate of Conneaut Lake High School and attended Edinboro University. She was owner and operator with her husband of Campbell's Star Motel, Conneaut Lake for 9 years. She had also worked at Dahlkemper's, Jack's Pharmacy, Thrift's Drug Store. Dairy Queen and drove school bus in Conneaut Lake.
Elaine was an active member of the Presbyterian Church of Conneaut Lake. She and her husband Gary enjoyed traveling in their motor home and was a member of the National Camping Travelers, Inc. She loved her dog and car and especially her two grandsons.
Survivors, in addition to her husband Gary for 43 years, include two sons, Shawn Monnie (Marcy) of Meadville and Chad Monnie of Meadville; two grandsons, Bennet and Alec Monnie; a brother, Sgt. First Class Robert Scott, US Army Ret. of Newport News, VA; a sister, Nancy Howles (Arlen) of Sugarland, TX; three nephews, Jack Urey of Pittsburgh and Tristan and Aaron Howles of Sugarland, TX; a sister-in-law, Sherry Urey (Jack) of Conneaut Lake and cousins including Joanne and Don Rickard of Unadilla, NY and Carl and Karen Carpenter of Richmond, VA.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Virginia Monnie, the most amazing in-laws ever.
Services were held with Waid-Coleman Funeral Home.
Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg.
