Calvin C. Evans

October 18, 1919 — December 21, 1998

Calvin C. Evans, 79, of Meadville, died Monday, December 21, 1998 at Meadville Health and Rehabilitation Center following a period of declining health.

He was born October 18, 1919 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Owen G. and Revena Owens and adopted by the late Catherine Evans.  He married Mary Wolf July 4, 1944.  She survives.

He was a 1940 graduate of Dormont High School in Pittsburgh.  He was a veteran of World War II, having served as a driver to General James Doolittle in the 15th Army Air Corps in the European Theater of Operations.  He retired in 1981 as a service technician from Hart-Eiseman Service Station following 23 years of service.  He previously worked at the Ted Howard ESSO Service Station in Pittsburgh.  He was a member of the Charles Stafford Post 111 American Legion and AARP.

He was a member of the New Harmonial Fellowship.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Mrs. James (Carol) McCullough of Apache Junction, AZ; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a twin brother, Byron Evans.

Services were held with Waid Funeral Home.
