Camron E. Shryock

Carmon E. Shryock, 89, of 1002 Maple Lane, Meadville, died Friday, January 9, 2009 at the Meadville Medical Center following a brief illness.

She was born in Meadville on December 1, 1919 a daughter of Charles E. and Myrtle (Tilly) Makeley Crandall.  She married John M. Shryock August 20, 1938 and he preceded her in death June 29, 1997.

Carmon was a graduate of Meadville High School and attended Allegheny College.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  In addition, she was a very crafty person and enjoyed making all kinds of crafts.  Among her favorite crafts were crocheting, knitting and sewing.  She made many afghans and shared them with the many people in her life.  Other activities included playing cards – especially Bridge.  She was a member of several different card clubs in the area.  Carmon was an avid animal lover and enjoyed the company of her cat, Smokey.  She donated regularly to the Crawford County Humane Society.

Carmon will be sadly missed by her son, John (Jeffrey) Shryock of Meadville; a daughter, Constance Jenks and her friend, Mr. Lynn Hales of Tallahassee, FL; three grandchildren, James Shryock, Suzanne McFadden and her husband Jeff all of Meadville and Andrew Jenks and his wife Nathalia of Jacksonville, FL.  Additionally, she will be missed by her two great grandchildren, Alexis and Alivia McFadden of Meadville and her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Bailey of Meadville, who was her best friend.

In addition to her husband and parents, Carmon was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Louise (Rossi) Shryock.

Calling hours will be Monday from 12 – 2:30 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.  The funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Travis Webster, Assoc. Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Crawford County Humane Society, 11012 Kennedy Hill Road, Meadville, PA 16335 of the Salvation Army, 1087 Park Avenue, Meadville, PA 16335.
