Carl L. Nageotte

July 19, 1917 — January 1, 2011

Carl L. Nageotte, 93, formerly of Lincoln Ave., Meadville and a current resident of Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, died there Saturday, January 1, 2011.

He was born July 19, 1917 in Saegertown, a son of Stephen and Flora Conrad Nageotte.  He married Virginia M. Potts June 28, 1941 and she preceded him in death March 27, 2007.

Carl was a Veteran of World War II, serving from 1944 to 1946 in the U.S. Navy in the Marshall Islands.  He worked for 20 years at DIC Tool Company in maintenance and as a millwright.  He previously worked as a custodian from 1959 to 1966 at Meadville High School and also was a bartender at the Kepler Hotel for many years.  He retired from Channellock in 2002 where he worked in security for 20 years.

He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church and was a member and former officer of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville and member of Meadville Eagles Aerie 429.   He enjoyed gardening, was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan, and loved his dog Molli and especially loved his family and time spent with them.

Survivors include a daughter, Sue Roschi and her husband Wayne of Greeneville, TN; two sons, Larry S. Nageotte and his wife Barbara of Meadville and Jerry R. Nageotte and his wife Denise of Meadville; six grandchildren, Larry S. Nageotte and his wife Lisa and their children Emily and Carolyn Nageotte, Michael J. Nageotte and his wife Jeunesse and their children Kacey, Payton, Madison and Abigail Nageotte, Christopher Martin and his wife Christine and their children Logan, Brock and Zachary Martin, and Ashley, Michael and Lindsey Nageotte; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Edith, Marion, Leora, Edna and Francis and six brothers, Edgar, Harold, Alvin, Alden, Alton and Wilford.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

The funeral service will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Fuller, Pastor of Bethany United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Venango Cemetery with military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville.
