Carol D. Balsamo, 56, formerly of Meaville and currently of Emlenton, died Friday, December 31, 1999, at Wesbury United Methodist Community. She was born in Meadville November 25, 1943, a daughter of Robert Stanley and Kathleen Evans Derby. She married Peter Balsamo December 21, 1961. He survives. She was a member of Union Presbyterian Church of Clintonville and a former member of First Presbyterian Church of Meaville where she was a former deacon, active with Youth Club, choir and Women's Circle. She was also a member of Scrubgrass Grange of Scrubgrass Township and was an election poll worker in the township. She was a 1961 graduate of Meadville High School. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and her family and grandchildren. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include nine children, Louan Martin (James) of Louisville, KY, P. Kevin Balsamo of Meadville, Marcie L. Coward (Gerald) of Meadville, Robert A. Balsamo (Heather) of Meadville, Scott E. Balsamo (Jenny) of Fort Eustis, VA, Joseph M. Balsamo (Tiffany Young) of Meadville, Heather N. Balsamo of Meadville, Timothy A. Balsamo and Aaron T. Balsamo, both at home; her mother, Kathleen E. Derby of Meadville; a brother, Robert C. Derby of Mount Olive, NC; a nephew, Robert T. Derby of Mount Olive; and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father. Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Meadville.
