Carol E. Oberrath, 73, formerly of Meadville and a current resident of Peaceful Rest Home, Cochranton, died there Wednesday, June 3, 1998 following a period of declining health.
She was born June 9, 1924 in Cleveland, OH, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Nellie Johnson Sears. She married Glenn Oberrath May 24, 1947. He preceded her in death April 11, 1986.
She attended Lincoln High School in Cleveland. She was a homemaker and had worked for five years as a secretary in the bond issue department of the US Navy in Cleveland. She was an active volunteer with Cub Scouts, PTA and her church.
She was a member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Elena M. Jones (Blair) of Meadville; two sons, Randy S. Oberrath (Melissa) of Erie and David B. Oberrath (Nancy) of Guys Mills; one step-daughter, Lorrene Thome of Cleveland; nine grandchildren and one sister, Marcie Kinney of Litchfield, OH.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, June Hall, Rose Chaney, Mary Guriel and Henrietta Lis.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Kingsley Cemetery.
