Caroline A. Sherman

March 7, 1922 — April 13, 2011

Caroline A. Sherman, 89, of Meadville, died Wednesday, April 13, 2011 in Greensburg following a period of declining health.

She was born March 7, 1922 in Wilson, PA, a daughter of John E. and Cora E. Fehl Freyer.  She married Robert T. Sherman July 13, 1946 and he preceded her in death June 7, 1997.

Caroline was a graduate of Clairton High School and the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing, Pittsburgh.  She was a homemaker and had worked as a nurse at Allegheny College and Presbyterian Hospital and also worked in the office of the Registrar at Allegheny College.

A member of Stone United Methodist Church, she was a former Sunday School teacher and superintendent.  She was a member of the Noontime Rotary Club of Meadville and Meadville Garden Club and was a former cub scout leader and former member of the Meadville Medical Center auxiliary.

Survivors include a grandson, Jon Christopher Sherman and his wife Colleen of Greensburg; four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Bailey, MaryClaire, and Cora; and a sister, Hannah Mencer of Smethport.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan T. Sherman and two brothers, John E. and Richard Freyer.

A private family interment service will be in Greendale Cemetery, Meadville.

A memorial service will be Saturday, April 30th at 4:00 p.m. at Stone United Methodist Church, 956 S. Main St., Meadville with the Rev. John Spahr, Pastor officiating.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
