Carolyn Joanne Martin

February 9, 1933 — August 10, 2000

Carolyn Joanne Martin, 67, of Meadville, died Thursday August 10, 2000 at Crawford County Care Center following a period of declining health.

She was born in Greenville, February 9, 1933, a daughter of Russell Troupe Daiesly and Virginia Lillian Jefferies.  She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Richard W. (Tim) Artman.  She married Clarence E. Martin, Sr. and he preceded her in death.

Over the years, she worked as a nurses aid at the former Mead Nursing Home in Meadville, Blazon of Jamestown, Paxton Restaurant in Greenville, Sturgin Poultry Farm in Sandy Lake and Sperry's Chicken Farm in Atlantic.  She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Eagles Lodge #429 Aux., Moose Lodge #99 Aux. and Mercer Co. ECHO Alert Team.  She was an avid bingo player and she enjoyed her CB Radio in which her handle was "Stechneck."

Survivors, include her boyfriend and companion of several years, Clarence Bond, Jr. of Meadville; three daughters, Melissa Heimbrook of Meadville, Doris Newcomer (Gerald) of Meadville and Judy Stracher (John) of Ivydale, WV; three sons, Richard E. Martin of Greenville, Clarence E. Martin, Jr. (Viola) of Meadville and C. Albert Martin (Carla) of Meadville; a brother, Richard L. Artman of Jamestown; twenty-two grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, James Allen Martin, two grandsons and an infant great-grandson.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Hadley Cemetery, Hadley, PA.
