Carolyn S. Stoop

Carolyn S. Stoop, 77, of Meadville died Friday, June 24, 2011 surrounded by her family at the Meadville Medical Center.

She was born July 7, 1933 in Evansville, IN a daughter of Cal and Juanita Hasten Jones.  She married Donald M. Stoop February 1, 1951 and he preceded her in death October 28, 1984.

She was a member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, volunteered at the American Cancer Society, was an avid supporter of the Meadville Public Library and enjoyed bowling.

Survivors, include: six children, Sherri Withrow and her husband Chuck of Dallas, TX, Don M. Stoop, Jr. and his wife Theresa of Crofton, MD, David W. Stoop of San Francisco, CA, Cynthia Strini and her husband Ed of Nashville, TN, John E. Stoop and his wife Maggie of Philadelphia, PA and Lynn Price and her husband Norm of Meadville; seven grandchildren, Don, Mike, Sarah, Nick, Brooke, Michael, Robert and Zak and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Fitzpatrick.

Calling hours will be Monday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, where she will be buried next to her husband.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 505 Poplar Street, Suite 310, Meadville, PA 16335 or Meadville Public Library, 848 N. Main Street, Meadville, PA 16335.
