Mrs. Catherine G. (Kimes) Burnette, 75, of Sandy Lake, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, May 2, 2022 with her entire family by her side, following an extended battle with cancer. She was born in Mercer on August 6, 1946 to Leland H. and Charlotte (Greggs) Kimes. Her survivors include her husband, Robert L. Burnette, who she married on May 1, 1965; a daughter, Michelle (Burnette) Kepple and her husband John of Cochranton; a son, Brian Burnette and his wife Beth (Stryker) of Carlton; four grandchildren, Justin Kepple and his fiance Michelle Loughry of Deer Creek Twp., Nicole (Kepple) and her husband Nathan Gorman of Meadville, Brionna and Brayden Burnette of Carlton; and one great-granddaughter, Autumn Gorman of Meadville. Other family survivors include a sister-in-law, Junes Kimes of Mercer; a brother-in-law, Dave Burnette and his wife Veronica of Canfield; an adopted son, Thomas Tainton and his wife Hollie of Sandy Lake; the Garrison Family of Curtis, Beth, Aubrey, and Rylan of Meadville; Airman 1st Class, Elizabeth Burnette of Dover AFB; and several more nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; an infant child; three brothers; a step-mother, Mary (Osborne) Kimes; and a niece, Patricia (Kimes) Brautigam. Catherine was an avid gardener and loved flowers. She loved traveling to the beach and going on cruises. Her most cherished times were spent with her family and friends. She loved nothing more than watching her grandchildren play sports. She worked in home healthcare for a number of years and also for many doctors offices in the billing departments. She was involved as a Sunday School teacher at the Fairfield Presbyterian Church. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
