Catherine I. Allen

Catherine I. (Cathy) Allen, 82, formerly of Meadville died Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Quality Life Services, Worthington, PA. She was born in Meadville December 11, 1935 a daughter of Fred and Autumn Jones Neff. She first married Al Castile and subsequently married Morton D. Allen May 22, 1982 and he preceded her in death October 13, 2002. She was a 1953 graduate of Randolph East Mead High School. She first worked for the Keystone View Co. and then for the City of Meadville in the Wage Tax Office before joining the Crawford County Sheriffs office where she worked for 23 years as a deputy and office manager. She was a life member of the Huidekoper VFW Post #2006, the Stafford American Legion Post #111 and the Vernon Central Hose Co. She enjoyed reading and traveling and in her retirement volunteered at the Meadville Medical Center. She is survived by a son, Dennis A. Castile of Connoquenessing; a daughter, Judy Forsythe of McKeesport; a step-son, Daniel P. Allen (Julie) of Fredericksburg, VA; a step-daughter, Lois Galbo (Joseph) of Meadville; a sister, Margaret (Peggy) Snyder of DuBois; a brother, Frederick Neff (Peggy) of Cochranton; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Sue Smith and a granddaughter, Lexie N. Castile. Calling hours will be Sunday, November 18th from 2-5 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville. The funeral service will be Monday, November 19th at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Norman Aabye of Open Door Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Kiser Hill Cemetery.
