Catherine L. Hays

Catherine L. Hays, 69, of Meadville, died Sunday, February 23, 1997 at Meadville Medical Center following a brief illness.

She was born February 20, 1928 in Mercer, a daughter of the late Francis A. and Ruth (Finney) Fox.  She married H. Richard Hays March 31, 1948.  He survives.

Mrs. Hays worked briefly as secretary at the Mercer Co. Home.  She was a homemaker and assisted her husband for 30 years in operation of the Richard Hays Funeral Home, Spartansburg.  She was a 1946 graduate of Fredonia-Delaware High School.  She attended Shenango Valley Business School and was a former member of Union City Chpater, Order of Eastern Star.  She was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ and its Women's Fellowship.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Keith (Linda) Bishop of Meadville and Mrs. David (Marcia) Machuga of Hermitage; two sons, Harry C. Hays of Spartansbrug and Mark R. Hays of Corry; nine grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Redfoot.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Millbank Cemetery.
