Catherine M. Hickernell

Catherine M. Hickernell, 85, of Meadville, died and went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at her residence.

She was born July 11, 1930 in Meadville, a daughter of Frank W. and Catharine E. Boyles Bollis.  She married Melvin Hickernell April 15, 1950 and he preceded her in death September 11, 2000.

Catherine was a 1948 graduate of Meadville High School.  A homemaker, she had also worked at the Meadville Telephone Company, as a waitress at Perkins Restaurant, and in the food service department at Allegheny College.

Catherine was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, lifetime member of Vernon Central Volunteer Fire Department, member of a local senior citizens group, and enjoyed embroidery and photography.

Survivors include four children, Wilma Hicks and her husband Larry of Coldwater, MI, Jerry Hickernell and his wife Rachel of Meadville, Marlene Pierce and her companion Walt Tebalt of Erie, and Keith Hickernell and his wife Toni of Olin, NC; seven grandchildren, Shelley, Steven, Melissa, Evan, Tyler, Edward, Jr., and Jordan; three great-grandchildren, Keegan, Angel, and T.J.; a brother, Wilbur Bollis and his wife Jean of Meadville; and a sister-in-law, Hilda Bollis of Vero Beach, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Morgan; three brothers, Richard, George, and Quinton Bollis; and three sisters, Martha Jennings, Florence Durish, and Mabel Alexander.

Calling hours will be Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church 543 Randolph St., Meadville where the funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Douglas A. Messerall, Director of Biblical Counseling of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
