Catharine S. Kost Waltenbaugh, 92, of Meadville, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community.
She was born September 3, 1920 in Meadville, a daughter of George and Clara Wachsmuth Stolz. She married M. Calvin Kost February 1, 1940 and he preceded her in death April 21, 1999. She subsequently married Charles M. Waltenbaugh April 26, 2002 and he preceded her in death January 13, 2009.
Catharine was a graduate of Meadville High School. She was a homemaker who subsequently worked at Talon for many years, retiring as secretary to the president. She was a former member of the Meadville Country Club and as an avid bridge player formerly was a member of the Meadville and Greenville Bridge Clubs. Catharine enjoyed gardening, doing crossword puzzles, and spending many winters in Vero Beach, FL. She was a wonderful baker and seamstress and was an avid Penn State football fan. Her greatest joy was traveling to see her family and cherished her time spent with them.
Catharine was a former member of St. Paul’s Reformed Church and served in various leadership positions.
Survivors include two sons, Frank Kost and his wife Anne of Schenectady, NY and Eric Kost and his wife Jeri of Perrysburg, OH; a daughter-in-law, Judy Kost of Centerville; thirteen grandchildren, Michael, Karen, Susan, Matthew, Lindsay, Kevin, April, Julie, Rebecca, Eric, Christopher, Lisa, and Justin; and nineteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Peter G. Kost; a granddaughter, Jocelyn Kost; a sister, Betty Balizet; and a brother, Arthur Stolz.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
The funeral and committal service will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Philip Torre officiating.
Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wesbury Foundation, 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, PA 16335.
