Cathy Lynn McKinney

Cathy Lynn McKinney, age 71, of Gastonia, NC and formerly of Meadville passed away Tuesday afternoon February 18, 2025, in Gastonia, NC.

She was born in Meadville on June 8, 1953, the daughter of Francis Edward and Elizabeth (Manuel) McKinney. She was a graduate of Meadville High School and on February 11, 2011, Cathy married John J. Bruzgis, he passed away July 5, 2022.

Cathy was employed in the customer service department at Talon, Aplix, Inc, retiring in 2018. She was a member of St. Mary of Grace Catholic Church. Cathy enjoyed reading, trips to the beach, spending time with family especially the week of the family reunion.

She is survived by a daughter, Rhonda Smartt and her husband Roger of Gastonia, NC; two sisters, Shirley Hart of Meadville, Joyce Pittard and her husband Jim of Lynchburg, VA; a brother Ralph McKinney and his husband Rod Henry of Gastonia, NC; three grandchildren, Andrew Bruzgis, Madyson Smartt, Lydia Smartt; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother Albert McKinney, and a sister Judith McKinney.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM in St. Mary of Grace Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville with Father Kyle Seyer, as celebrant. Family and friends will be received at ROSE AND WAID FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 PM. Entombment will be in St. Brigid Cemetery.
