Cecelia Ellen Newcomb

Mrs. Cecelia Ellen Newcomb, 86, of Meadville, died Sunday May 17, 1964, at City Hospital after an illness of four years.

Mrs. Newcomb was born at Linkoping, Sweden, November 22, 1877, a daughter of Charles and Charlotte Johnson Nelson.  She married Mark M. Newcomb in 1899.  He died in 1926.

She was a member of Stone Methodist Church, its Beacon Light Class and a charter member of the Woman's Society of Christian Service of the church; formerly a member of the Ladies Advisory Committee of City Hospital; former member of Mead Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, and for many years, she headed a group of women of the church who sewed for the hospital.  She also was a member of Meadville Grange.

Mrs. Newcomb formerly operated a tourist home and apartments on Washington Street.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. J. Dallas (Lillian) Mitchell of Meadville; a son, Raymond A. Newcomb of North East; a granddaughter, Mrs. P. Frederick (Dorothy Mitchell) Gredley of Andover, MA; a grandson, Mark A. Newcomb of San Diego, CA and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
