Cecil E. Murray

Cecil E. Murray, 78, of Meadville, died Saturday, August 12, 2000 at Meadville Medical Center following a period of declining health.

He was born November 28, 1921 in Rimersburg, a son of the late E. Roy and Mabel Mortimer Murray.  He married Betty L. Burton September 8, 1951 and she preceded him in death November 22, 1990.

He was a 1939 graduate of Rimersburg High School and a veteran of World War II with the US Army Air Corps.  He was a certified electrician and had been employed at one time by the American Viscose Co. in Meadville and General Electric Co. in Erie.  He had lived in Denver, CO from 1961 until returning to Meadville in 1978.  He then worked for Meadville Forging from where he retired.

He was a member of Lyona Bible Church and had enjoyed traveling and nature.

Survivors include one sister, Vae Batchelor (Bob) of Rochester, NY and several nieces and nephews.

In addition in his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Turner and two infant sisters.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Wayland Cemetery.
