Cecil E. Wykoff

Cecil E. (Bud) Wykoff, 90, of Meadville, died Friday, April 11, 2014 at Rolling Fields, Conneautville.

He was born October 24, 1923 in Townville, a son of Arthur and Gladys Baker Wykoff.  He married Shirley Jean Raybuck February 23, 1946 and she survives.

Bud was a 1943 graduate of New Richmond High School.  He was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps training B17 pilots and had a combined 29 years of active and reserve duty service, retiring as Major from the Air Force in 1983.  He also served in the civil air patrol.

Bud was owner and operator of Bud’s Esso Station for 20 years.  He subsequently worked for Kebert Construction Co. and Union Drilling Co., Canadohta Lake.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.  He was additionally a member of Meadville Elks Lodge 219, Meadville Eagles Aerie 429, and Saegertown American Legion Post 205.  Bud enjoyed golfing for many years and spending time at the cottage at Canadohta Lake.

Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Shirley of 68 years, include a son, William (Bill) Wykoff and his wife Sharon of Meadville; a grandson, William (Bud) Wykoff and his wife Catherine of Herndon VA; twin great granddaughters, Sarah Jean and Kaitlin Ann Wykoff; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Genevieve Smith and an infant brother.

Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

The funeral service will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Goodnough, Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Kingsley Cemetery, Townville with military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville.
