Charles A. Emerick, 80, of 20741 Alden Street, Meadville, died Monday, November 12, 2001 at the Meadville Medical Center.
He was born in Meadville, March 8, 1921 a son of Charles Otto and Susan Jane Lee Emerick. He married Mae Birdeen Hoyt April 17, 1944 and she survives.
He retired in 1981 as a rural mail carrier with the US Postal Service after 32 years of employment. Previously he had worked on the Erie Railroad as a machinist apprentice.
He was a 1938 graduate of Meadville High School, a member of First Presbyterian Church and a charter member of the Meadville Field Archers. He was a veteran of World War II with the US Army serving in the Philippines. He enjoyed his family, friends, bowling and woodworking.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 57 years, include: two sons, Harvey A. Emerick and his wife Shirley of Jemison, AL and Robert L. Emerick and his wife Bao of Rancho Cordoba, CA; a sister, Dorothy Hall of Meadville; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Emerick and a brother, Harvey Emerick.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
The funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 890 Liberty St., Meadville with the Rev. David R. Hosick, Pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
