Charles B. Shortt

Charles B. Shortt, 95, of Meadville and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community, died there, Saturday, May 14, 2016.

He was born October 24, 1920 in Salamanca, NY a son of James D. and Jessie Byers Shortt.  In 1924 the family moved to Warren, PA, where Mr. Shortt attended school and graduated from high school in 1938.  After earning an engineering degree from Case School of Applied Science in Cleveland (no Case Western Reserve University), he married high school classmate Meredith Young in 1944.  They lived in Northampton, MA and Erie, PA until 1956, when they returned to Warren and resided on Buchanan Street until 1999, when they moved to Meadville.

Mr. Shortt was employed in the Sales Engineering Department of Struthers-Wells Corporation from 1956 until his retirement in 1982.  He was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Warren.  His personal interests included fishing, photography, gardening and hiking.

He is survived by his son, David Shortt.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Meredith of 67 years in 2011, his son John in 2004 and his brother James in 2005.

Following cremation interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Pleasantville, PA.
