Charles C. Crockett

Charles C. Crockett, 87, of Meadville, died Monday, March 12, 2012 at St. Vincent Health Center, Erie.

He was born May 17, 1924 in Jacksonville, FL, a son of Clair C. Crockett and Tillie Spetz Crockett Johnson.  He married Veronica B. McGraw June 12, 1948 and she survives.

Charles was a 1943 graduate of Youngsville High School.  He was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the European and Pacific Theater of Operations and the Korean War, with the U.S. Navy.  He was a 1950 graduate of Penn State University with a B.S. degree in agricultural economics.  He worked as a food inspector for the PA Dept. of Health, retiring in 1989.

Charles was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville and the PA Association of Retired State Employees.  He enjoyed working in his yard, gardening, and civil war history.

Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Veronica of 63 years, include three daughters, Lynnea Bailey and her husband Michael of Erie, Charlene Horvat and her husband Tom of Meadville, and Connie Graham and her husband Curtis of Meadville; ten grandchildren, Mark, Stephen, and Gregory Bailey, Ann-Marie Patterson and her husband Carl, Natalie, Charles, Robert, and Kaylie Horvat, Julie Graham and Dana Revel, and Kevin Graham; and two great-grandchildren, Gabriella and Max.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Muriel Kimmeth.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

The funeral service will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Fr. Johnathan Schmolt, Pastor of St. Brigid Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville.
