Charles D. Johnston

Charles D. Johnston, 79, of Meadville, died Saturday, October 8, 1988, at Wesbury United Methodist Community following an extended illness.

He was born in Utica, October 4, 1909, a son of Clarence and Mary Shannon Johnston.  He married Helen Braymer April 2, 1930.  She survives.

Mr. Johnston retired from his position on the Engineering Department of Talon in 1972 after 43 years of service.  He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Crawford County Shrine Club.  He was a 50-year member of Lodge 408 F and AM.  He was a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies of Erie and Zem Zem Shrine Temple, Erie.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, C. Richard Johnston of Meadville and James R. Johnston of Meadville; several nieces and nephews; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond S. Johnston.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
