Charles E. Hershelman

March 17, 1910 — February 24, 1992

Charles E. Hershelman, 81, of Meadville, a retired Talon vice president, died Monday, February 24, 1992, at Meadville Medical Center following an illness of several months.

He was born in Vernon Township, March 17, 1910, a son of Joseph and Elizabeth Yochum Hershelman.  He married Bess E. Ewing, September 22, 1934.  She survives.

He retired from Talon as vice president controller in 1975 after 48 years of service.  A 1927 graduate of Meadville High School, he began work at Talon as an office boy.  He graduated in 1933 from International Accounting Society Correspondence School, and from Harvard Business School Advanced Business program in 1956.  He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he was a former trustee, deacon, elder and finance committee chairman; member and past president of Meadville Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce; and member of finance committee of Meadville Medical Center.  He served on board of directors for the American Red Cross and gave 20 years of service on the hospital boards as past president of Meadville City Hospital Board, and currently a director of Meadville Medical Center Health Systems Inc.  He was a member of Meadville Country Club and Iroquois Boating and Fishing Club.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Mrs. W. Lee (Donna) Corbett of Nashville, TN; a son, C. Gary Hershelman of Cleveland, OH; four grandchildren and several cousins.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
