Charles E. Shadley, Jr.

Charles E. Shadley, Jr., 77, of Alden Street, Meadville, died at home Tuesday, January 4, 2005.

He was born in Meadville, October 24, 1927, a son of Charles E. and Genevieve Scowden Shadley, Sr.  He married Greta J. Nestor, January 15, 1955 and she preceded him in death December 13, 1993.

He was a 1946 graduate of Meadville High School and he attended Gannon University.  He worked for a short time at Talon Inc. until his enlistment in the Army.  He served for two years and was stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict.  Upon returning to Meadville he worked for Abex for 33 years, retiring in 1985 as Purchasing Agent.  He also worked part-time for many years at the Lamplighter Restaurant.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, VFW Post #2006 and Elks Lodge #219.

Survivors, include: four children, K. Kim Shadley of Wexford, PA, Lori S. Koller and her husband Casey of Flemington, NJ, Charles E. Shadley III of Meadville and Melissa S. Potts and her husband David of Meadville; five grandchildren, Hillary Koller, Wyatt Koller, Charles E. Shadley IV, Brenham Potts and Hayden Potts and two cousins, Fritz Shadley of Cincinnati, OH and Sue Shadley Smith of Avon, CT.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. with an Elks service at 7 p.m. and Friday from 10-11 a.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.

The funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. David Fugate, Assoc. Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Burial with military honors will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
