Charles Edmund Crosley

Charles Edmund “Chuck” Crosley, 84, of 2921 Loran Drive West, Jacksonville, FL 32216, died July 31, 2002 at Memorial Hospital, Jacksonville.

He was born in Meadville, March 25, 1918 a son of Ralph Burton and Ruth Swisher Crosley.  He married Joanne Mandilla Scott June 12, 1950 and she survives.

He retired from the US Army after 22 years of service and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.  Following his military career he retired from Ford Motor Co. as parts manager of the Tractor Division.  He then subsequently worked for the Jacksonville Better Business Bureau.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #88, Jacksonville, the Retired Officers Association of Mayport, FL and the Spring Glen United Methodist Church of Jacksonville, FL where he was very active in its Drama Group.  He loved to read, travel and take care of his yard.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Eileen Gail Crosley Nickolson and her husband Jake of Jacksonville, FL; a sister, Margaret Hock of Meadville; a brother, Daniel Packard Crosley and his wife Doris of Meadville; two step grandchildren, Somer Nickolson and Shelley Nickolson and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel Crosley and Walter Crosley and three sisters, Patricia Ackerman, Charlotte Goff and Marian Crane.

Following services in Jacksonville, FL, local calling hours will be Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.  The funeral service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Kenneth Byrd, officiating.

Burial with military honors will be in Greendale Cemetery.
