Charles Richard (Dick) Fredericks

Charles Richard (Dick) Fredericks, 87, of Conneaut Lake passed away Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016 at Rolling Fields Nursing Home, Conneautville.

Dick was born July 3, 1929 in West Mayfield, Beaver Falls, PA a son of Allen Herman (Pete) and Anna Mary Beal Fredericks.  He married Mary Jane Davis May 17, 1947 and she survives.

Dick lived in Monaca, PA where he was an auto mechanic for many years and also built and raced stock cars.  He also worked at St. Joseph Lead Company and Baker Chevrolet in Beaver.  Upon the family move to Conneaut Lake in 1965, Dick worked at Sunbeam Corp (now Seco/Warwick) in Meadville where he traveled as a vacuum foreman to places as far away as Italy.  He retired in 1991.  Dick and Mary Jane enjoyed their retirement years in Conneaut Lake and Pioneer Village in Fort Myers, FL for 14 years.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Conneaut Lake where he served as Sunday School Superintendent in the 1970’s.  Dick was a member of Pine Masonic Lodge #498, Linesville and was Worshipful Master in 1977.  He was a 45 years member of the Scottish Rite, New Castle Consistory and was a member of the Zem Zem Shrine Temple, Erie.  He was a member of the Conneaut Lake Kiwanis Club and was Conneaut Lake Borough Fire Chief for several years.  He was also a member of the Konneyaut Kickers Square Dance Club and enjoyed dancing and music all his life.  He always had a boat and enjoyed bass fishing on Conneaut Lake and was an avid NASCAR fan.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Mary of 69 years, include: a son, Richard Allen Fredericks and his wife Mary Beth of Bluffton, SC; a daughter, Peggy Ann Monnie of Conneaut Lake; three grandchildren, Donna Dobbs and her husband Kraig of Beaver, PA, Lee Fredericks and his wife Lara of Beirut, Lebanon and Christopher Charles Monnie of Conneaut Lake; four great grandchildren, A.J. Porto, Christian Porto and Sara Porto all of Beaver, PA and Dylan Fredericks of Beirut, Lebanon; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Fredericks of Monaca; a niece, Cheryl Ann Cascio and two nephews, Jim Fredericks and Tim Fredericks all of Beaver County as well as many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lewis Clair (Mike) Fredericks and Thomas Herman Fredericks and his wife Shirley.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8:30 p.m. at the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, Inc., 12422 Conneaut Lake Rd, Conneaut Lake with a masonic service at 7 p.m. and the funeral service at 8:30 p.m. with the Rev. Jay Sterling, Pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, officiating.

Additional calling hours will be Thursday from 1-3 p.m. at the Saul-Gabauer Funeral Home, 273 Route 68, Rochester.  The committal service and interment will follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.

The family suggests memorials be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 240 N. Third St, Conneaut Lake, PA 16316 or Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 West 8th St, Erie, PA 16505.
