Charles G. Gilmore

June 17, 1914 — July 24, 1984

Charles G. Gilmore, 70, a resident of United Methodist Home and Nursing Hospital for the past two years, formerly of Blooming Valley, died Tuesday, July 24, 1984, at the home, after a lengthy illness.

He was born at Jenkins, KY, June 17, 1914, a son of Samuel and Ida Gilmore.  He married Katherine Todd June 25, 1938.

Mr. Gilmore had retired from his position as chief engineer at FMC Industrial Packaging Division, Kennett Square.  He had also worked in the Meadville FMC plant for 30 years.  Mr. Gilmore was a member of Blooming Valley United Methodist Church, where he had been a former choir member, Sunday school superintendent and Sunday school teacher.  He was a member of Masonic Lodge 408, Solomon Royal Arch Chapter 191 and was a member and past commander of Northwest Commandry 25.  He was a former member of Salvation Army Advisory Board, and was a member and past president of the former Blooming Valley Consolidated School Board.  Professional memberships included American Society of Mechanical Engineers and Professional Society of Mechanical Engineers.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Charles H. Gilmore of Chagrin Falls, OH and Kenneth G. Gilmore of Blooming Valley; three sisters, Mrs. Virginia Yochym and Mrs. Clara Salyer, both of Clarksburg, WV and Mrs. Helen Pickett of Duhring, WV and a half brother, Thomas Hulings of Atlanta.

He was preceded in death by five brothers.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
