Charles G. Spaid, 89, of Woodcock Township, died Thursday, January 7, 1988, at Meadville Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mr. Spaid was born in Woodcock Township, February 22, 1898, a son of Theodore and Hulda Grommell Spaid. He married Laure Ewing May 9, 1929. She survives.
He was self-employed as a dairy farmer. He attended Blooming Valley United Methodist Church. He was a member of Woodcock Center Grange for more than 50 years. He was a former director of the Erie-Crawford Dairy Assn.; a former Woodcock Township tax collector; and a former member of the advisory board of the Farmers Home Administration.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include one daughter, Mrs. Harold (Betty) Galford of Saegertown; three sons, Robert E. Spaid of Meadville, Carl W. Spaid of Cambridge Springs and Merle E. Spaid of Meadville; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Spaid and one sister, Mrs. Clara Bradshaw.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Ewing Cemetery, East Mead Township, Crawford County, PA.
