Charles H. Allen

Charles H. Allen, 76, 583 North St., died at home Thursday, May 11, 1978, after an extended illness.

He settled in Meadville in 1938.  He was born in Mooresville, IN, April 10, 1902, son of Arthur and Sarah Wrightsman Allen.  He married Virginia Kelly February 10, 1933.  He last was employed for 17 years as a clerk at National Meat Market.  He previously was employed for three years as display manager at Pizitz Department Store, Birmingham, AL.  Prior to that he held the same position with Oransky Department Store, Des Moines, Iowa.  He had attended Iowa State University and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Meadville.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Norma Schlosser and Mrs. Jane Pitzer both of Dayton, OH; a brother, Von Allen of Earlham, Iowa; and two grandchildren.

Services were held at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Meadville with Rev. Dr. Arthur M. Crawford, officiating.

Interment was in Spring Cemetery, Spring Township.
