Charles Howard Broms

April 18, 1916 — November 13, 1989

Charles Howard Broms, 73, of Meadville, died at Meadville Medical Center, Monday, November 13, 1989, after a sudden illness, of natural causes.

Broms was born in McKeesport, April 18, 1916, a son of Gustave and Lida Smith Broms.  He married Dorothy L. Cairns on September 18, 1937.

He retired from Avtex Fibers after 15 years as a maintenance mechanic in the spinning department.  He was previously employed by GATX, Saegertown, for 20 years, and Talon Inc., for eight years.  He was a member of Elks Lodge 219; and coached Little League baseball in Meadville for several years.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are one son, Charles Broms, Jr. of Placentia, CA; one sister, Ellen A. Childs of Meadville; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by three brothers, Willard L., David B. and Edward J. Broms.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
