Charles Hudson Jones

January 3, 1874 — April 19, 1961

Charles Hudson Jones, 87, sheriff of Crawford County from 1926 to 1930, died Wednesday, April 19, 1961, at the Methodist Home for the Aged after an illness of several months.

Mr. Jones opened the first auto accessory store in Meadville.  He moved to the Methodist Home July 3, 1953.

He was born at Stoney Point, January 3, 1874, a son of Horace C. and Almira B. Miller Jones.  He married Cora E. Herrick October 24, 1894.  She resides at the Home.  He was a member of Stone Methodist Church.

Besides his widow, survivors include two sons, Lyle H of Chula Vista, CA and Martin W. of Meadville; three granddaughters, Mrs. Robert W. Younie of Sarasota, FL, Mrs. Robert Rethmel of Butler, NJ and Miss Linda Jones of Meadville; and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Edinboro Cemetery.
