Charles J. Connor

Charles J. Connor, 85, of 11662 Pennsylvania Ave., Meadville, died Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at Meadville Medical Center following a period of declining health.

He was born in Ashland October 10, 1920, a son of the late Leo and Catherine O’Brian Connor.  He married Elizabeth “Betty” Howenstien February 25, 1946.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and subsequently worked as a machinist for Conrail for 32 years, retiring in 1985.  He was a member of Meadville Elks Lodge 219 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville.

Survivors, in addition to his wife of 59 years, include two sons, Lee Connor of Meadville and Edward Connor of Beech Grove, IN; a sister, Kathleen Hellman of Richmond, VA; two nieces and one nephew.  He was preceded in death by a brother, John Connor.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Jeff Stivason, Pastor of Covenant Reformed Presbyterian Church officiating.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
