Charles L. Gilbert

Charles L. Gilbert, 55, of Guys Mills, formerly of Meadville, was stricken by a heart attack Wednesday night, July 22, 1970.  He was dead on arrival at City Hospital.

He was born in Reusens, VA, June 16, 1915, a son of Robert and Margaret Linnan Gilbert. He married the former Romaine Hotchkiss, August 31, 1941.

Mr. Gilbert worked in the spinning department of American Viscose Division of FMC Corp. for 27 years.  He was a member of Park Congregational Church and served in Air Force during World War II.

Surviving, in addition to his widow, are two sons, Norman of Rochester, NY and Spec. 4 Roger, serving with the Army in Vietnam; his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. George Blackhurst Sr. of Meadville; a brother, Robert C. Gilbert of Saegertown; two half sisters, Mrs. Olin (Mary) Wood of Meadville and Mrs. Wayne (Grace) Ferguson of Milton Freewater, OR; three half brothers, Fred Blackhurst of Franklin, James Blackhurst of Meadville and George Blackhurst of Conneautville.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Union Cemetery.
